Downfall Launch at Medusa Bar - BayCity Hardcore is back.

Bay City hardcore outfit Lay Low made their much-needed return to Geelong at Medusa Bar following the release of their new single, Downfall. It had been far too long since the band last tore through the city, and the anticipation in the room was obvious from the moment the doors opened. With a stacked lineup showcasing some of Victoria's strongest hardcore acts, the night delivered relentless energy from start to finish.

Life of Tragedy kicked things off with a crushing set, setting the tone early through heavy-hitting riffs, pummelling breakdowns and an ominous stage presence that immediately pulled the crowd in. Their performance wasted no time getting the room moving, proving they were the perfect choice to open the evening.

Knifepoint followed, carrying that same raw intensity with a set fuelled by aggression and passion. Their uncompromising sound kept the momentum rolling, leading seamlessly into performances from Lockjaw and Lakeview. Lockjaw has been making serious waves throughout the Melbourne hardcore scene lately, consistently delivering explosive live shows and building a strong reputation. Having them make the trip down to Geelong felt like a privilege, with the crowd responding through constant movement in the pit from the opening note to the final breakdown.

Fresh off a Sydney show last month alongside Father Deer Hands and Withstand, Lakeview brought a different dynamic to the lineup. Their emotionally charged performance balanced intensity with vulnerability, adding another layer to an already memorable night while never sacrificing the weight and aggression expected from the genre.

Closing the night, Lay Low reminded everyone exactly why their return had been so highly anticipated. Mixing fan favourites such as Coward's Tongue and Cold with their latest single, Downfall, the band delivered a commanding performance that had the entire room engaged from beginning to end. Every breakdown landed with force, every lyric was shouted back, and the connection between the band and the crowd was undeniable. It was a long-awaited return that lived up to expectations, cementing another unforgettable hardcore show for the Geelong scene. BayCity Hardcore is back!
